Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Clay Carpenter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Quintin Brooks! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brooks closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carpenter circles away. Brooks looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! A clash of legs there as Brooks blocks the low kick. Carpenter scores with a nice head shot. Brooks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carpenter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brooks to the mat! Brooks manages to get full guard. Carpenter chips away with some ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carpenter thows a big elbow that misses. Brooks avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Carpenter would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Carpenter in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Brooks has a closed guard, preventing Carpenter from standing up. Carpenter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carpenter postures up in Brooks's guard and throws a big left but Brooks blocks it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Carpenter throws out a leg kick but Brooks moves out of range and Carpenter only half commits. Carpenter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Brooks dodges the ground and pound from Carpenter. Carpenter tries for a kimura but Brooks is defending well. Carpenter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Brooks parries the strikes from Carpenter easily there. Carpenter is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Brooks to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carpenter looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Brooks takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Carpenter throwing shots but missing, from side control. Brooks is trying to control Carpenter's posture but Carpenter avoids it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Carpenter lands with an uppercut that bounces Brooks off the cage and back into rage. Clay Carpenter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brooks keeps the fight on the outside. Brooks misses with a takedown attempt so Carpenter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Carpenter has gone for a leg lock! Brooks slips out almost immediately though and dives into Carpenter's guard. Brooks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carpenter is keeping the position for now. Carpenter can't keep his opponent in guard - Brooks advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Brooks wants to pass to mount but Carpenter is defending the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brooks slows the pace down in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carpenter pushes Brooks off looking to stand but Brooks dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brooks in particular looking to stall. Brooks trying to control from Carpenter's half guard. Carpenter has other ideas though and has regained full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clay Carpenter dominated that round. The cut man is working on Quintin Brooks's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Carpenter is looking to clinch. Carpenter clobbers Brooks with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Carpenter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carpenter throws a low kick, looking for Brooks's leg but Brooks calmly moves out of range. Carpenter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carpenter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Carpenter stalks Brooks and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Brooks's face. Brooks staggers backwards, shaken.
That has opened up Quintin Brooks's cut even more. Brooks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carpenter lands with a shot to the body. Brooks throws a nice looking combination but Carpenter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Carpenter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brooks tries to avoid it but Carpenter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brooks to the ground. Brooks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Carpenter throws a chopping leg kick but Brooks manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brooks doesn't succeed with the takedown enabling Carpenter to counter with a crisp jab. Brooks swats away the attempt to clinch by Carpenter. Brooks has his takedown stuffed and Carpenter counters with a takedown into side control. Brooks wants to get back to his feet. Sloppy strikes there by Carpenter. Brooks regains half guard. Brooks trying to control from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Carpenter throws a strike but Brooks rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Brooks stops Carpenter from standing up. Carpenter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carpenter tries to get out of the position. Brooks trying to control but Carpenter is working from the bottom. Brooks trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Carpenter manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Carpenter throwing strikes but missing. Carpenter wants to get up but he can't break Brooks's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Brooks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carpenter manages to get himself to full guard.
Carpenter being controlled here, momentarily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brooks tries for a takedown but Carpenter circles away easily and Carpenter counters with a lovely straight right hand! Carpenter tries a low kick but Brooks avoids it. Carpenter misses with a few strikes there.

Carpenter lands with a good body shot. Carpenter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carpenter wants it to stay on the feet. Brooks walks into a left hand. Carpenter throws a solid leg kick but Brooks takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Carpenter. Carpenter fails with an attempt to clinch.

Carpenter feints and as Brooks raises his hands in defense, Carpenter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Brooks is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brooks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carpenter's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Carpenter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brooks passes Carpenter's left leg - he's now in half guard. Brooks looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Brooks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carpenter keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Brooks looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Brooks stands up and beckons Carpenter to join him on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brooks tries to move into range but Carpenter moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Carpenter lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Brooks backs up against the cage.
Carpenter lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Clay Carpenter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Brooks postures up in Carpenter's guard and throws a big left but Carpenter blocks it.
And that's the end of the fight! Clay Carpenter showed his dominance in that final round. Well Carpenter has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
