Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lee Leeson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Deimon! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deimon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Leeson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Leeson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leeson lands with a punch from half guard. Deimon is trying to stand up here but Leeson is controlling him well. Leeson wants to control but Deimon is keeping him busy. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Leeson connects with a nice short shot to Deimon's temple. Deimon is refusing to be controlled, as Leeson sits in half guard. Deimon is trying to stand.
Leeson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Leeson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Deimon wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leeson slips a nice elbow through Deimon's hands, connecting with Deimon's forehead. Leeson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Deimon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Deimon is looking to escape. Deimon is refusing to be controlled, as Leeson sits in half guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Leeson connects with a body shot. Leeson with a nice cross. Leeson works the jab nicely. Leeson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Deimon at a distance.
Leeson fails to land with a series of punches.
Deimon closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Deimon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Deimon showed some decent athleticism there. Leeson is looking to control Deimon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Leeson avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leeson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Deimon thows a huge punch but Leeson dodges it nicely.
Deimon is trying to control the action in half guard but Leeson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leeson is trying is best to control the position here. Leeson is refusing to be controlled, as Deimon sits in half guard. Deimon wants to pass the guard but Leeson is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Leeson is staying active underneath Deimon, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Deimon is figuring out what he wants to do next. Deimon is looking to take a break and control but Leeson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Deimon keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lee Leeson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Leeson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Leeson cracks Deimon with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Leeson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Deimon has time to react. Deimon tries for a takedown but Leeson circles away easily and Leeson counters with a straight right hand. Deimon takes a shot right to the bread basket. Leeson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Deimon's head backwards. Leeson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Deimon misses with a takedown and Deimon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Leeson digs a good hook to Deimon's body.
A cross from Leeson lands. Deimon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Leeson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Lee Leeson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Deimon. Leeson connects with a right hand. Deimon shakes it off. Deimon is breathing heavily. Leeson stalks Deimon and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Deimon's face. Deimon staggers backwards, shaken.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deimon drops his hands momentarily and Leeson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Leeson scores with a jab to the head.
Leeson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Leeson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. A left lands for Leeson. A cross from Leeson lands. Leeson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Deimon at a distance.
Leeson shoots in and bounces Deimon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Leeson trying to control the position from guard on top but Deimon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Deimon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Deimon wants to stand and escape but Leeson is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leeson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Deimon wants to get back to his feet but Leeson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Leeson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Leeson throwing strikes but missing. Deimon is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Leeson is looking to work some ground and pound but Deimon has wrist control. Leeson prevents Deimon from getting back to his feet. Leeson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Deimon gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. A jab from Leeson finds it's way through Deimon's defenses. Nice uppercut there from Leeson. Leeson lands a body shot.
Deimon takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Leeson scores with a hook. Leeson scores with a hook. Leeson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Deimon takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Deimon drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Jab from Leeson. Deimon drops his hands momentarily and Leeson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Deimon has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Deimon takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Leeson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Deimon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leeson lands with an overhand left. Deimon drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Leeson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Leeson looks up at the clock and then as Deimon takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Leeson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Leeson lands a nice forearm strike. Leeson is working Deimon over with some ground and pound from side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Leeson working the ground and pound from side control. Leeson throwing strikes but Deimon manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Leeson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Leeson tries to get out of the position. Leeson keeps Deimon under control for a moment. Deimon trying to control the action but Leeson is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lee Leeson dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Leeson scores with a hook to the body. Deimon takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Deimon takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Lee Leeson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Deimon takes a body punch but keeps moving. Leeson lands with a right hand. Leeson lands with a good body shot. Leeson lands with a straight right. Deimon didn't see that one coming. A left lands for Leeson. Deimon is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Leeson cracks Deimon with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Deimon gets the takedown into side control. Leeson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Deimon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deimon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Leeson is trying to control Deimon's posture but Deimon avoids it. Leeson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Leeson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Leeson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Deimon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Leeson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Leeson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Deimon makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Leeson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Deimon on the side of the head. Leeson works over Deimon's head and body with a nice combination. Deimon takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Deimon fails with the takedown and Leeson counters with a two punch combo. Leeson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Deimon misses with a takedown attempt and Leeson counters with a takedown into side control. Leeson landing a few strikes. Leeson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Deimon down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Deimon on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Leeson cracks Deimon with a big right hand but Deimon just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Deimon is trying to buck Leeson off. Leeson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Leeson cracks Deimon with an elbow. That is naaassty. Phil Deimon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lee Leeson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Deimon seems to have recovered his senses. Leeson cracks Deimon with a big elbow.
And that's the end of the fight! Lee Leeson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Leeson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
