Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Angus McTavish! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Lee! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee fails with the takedown. McTavish is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Lee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. McTavish has hold of Lee's hands but Lee slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. McTavish wants to get back to his feet.
Lee is taking a breather. McTavish says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. McTavish is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lee's back! McTavish tightening his grip on Lee, looking for the choke. Lee defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of McTavish's arms.
That's one minute gone in the round. McTavish has the hooks in. Lee is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lee turns into McTavish and is now in his guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. McTavish is looking to stand up but Lee isn't so interested in that idea. Lee trying to control but McTavish is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Lee working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McTavish's head. McTavish is looking to stand up but Lee isn't so interested in that idea. Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. The fight stays on the outside here - McTavish looks like he's thinking about clinching though. McTavish throws a right and a left that Lee avoids nicely. Lee misses with a wild combination.

and McTavish counters with a nice double leg into half guard. McTavish seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lee does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. McTavish prevents Lee from improving his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Lee trying to control from the bottom.

Lee is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lee trying to control from half guard but McTavish is working away. Lee is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Lee works his way into full mount! Lee looking to finish McTavish with some ground and pound. This is bad for McTavish!

Lee goes for an armbar but McTavish turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from McTavish. Lee manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but McTavish is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McTavish working for a triangle but Lee defends it easily.
Lee drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McTavish dives on top into guard. John Lee has got the better of the ground game so far.

McTavish would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. McTavish stands up and waves to Lee to follow him. McTavish has closed the distance and engaged Lee in a clinch.

McTavish might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

But McTavish has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McTavish! Lee looking for submissions from the bottom here. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. McTavish gets to his feet - Lee follows without any prompting.
