PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Skyler Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by One. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ben Jones was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Skyler Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ben Jones!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nelson has managed to clinch.
Nelson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jones's efforts to push away.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Nelson has him pressed against the cage.
Jones is pressed up against the cage. Nelson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Nelson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nelson.
Nelson wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Nelson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones is trying to stand up here but Nelson is controlling him well.
Nelson wants to pass the guard but Jones is defending well.

and Nelson counters by clinching up.
Nelson jumps guard but Jones stands there with Nelson around his waist. Nelson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ben Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nelson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jones can't fight it off and eventually Nelson manages to take the fight to the floor. Jones looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jones drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nelson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nelson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nelson!
