Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clint Lomax! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Mullen! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A bone on bone clash there as Lomax blocks the leg kick.
Lomax changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd cheers as Lomax lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mullen doesn't seem phased though. Mullen throws a head kick but Lomax moves out of range.
Lomax is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mullen. Mullen walks into a straight right hand from Lomax. Good standup being displayed there by Mullen as he connects with a hook. Mullen throws a chopping leg kick but Lomax manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Lomax lands a big head kick that sends Mullen tumbling to the mat! Lomax takes a step backwards and waves Mullen back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mullen is rocked! Mullen throws a one two combo.
Mullen is still on wobbly legs! Can Lomax finish him? Chris Mullen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mullen throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Mullen seems to have recovered his senses. Mullen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mullen avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mullen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Lomax moves out of range as Mullen throws a body kick.
Lomax connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mullen. Mullen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lomax throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Lomax swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Lomax throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Mullen throws a sloppy head kick and Lomax counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mullen throws a leg kick but Lomax sees it coming and checks it nicely. Lomax throws a sloppy head kick and Mullen counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Mullen swings for the body but Lomax moves out of range.
Lomax misses with an uppercut. Lomax throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Mullen's head. Lomax moves out of range of the body kick from Mullen.
Mullen attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Mullen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lomax throws out the jab. Lomax lands a brutal head kick. Mullen looks out on his feet and Lomax throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Clint Lomax! Clint Lomax retains his bantamweight title!
