Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wade Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rickson Torro!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Torro has Carlson up against the cage in a clinch.
Carlson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Torro prevents it.
Carlson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Torro.
Torro fails to pull guard.
Carlson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Torro smiles and moves away.
Torro shoots in but no luck this time.
Wade Carlson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rickson Torro.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Torro drives through with a takedown into guard.
Torro stands and throws Carlson's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Torro thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Carlson has his hands on Torro's head, controlling the position.

Torro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Torro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Carlson tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Carlson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Carlson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Carlson gets a clinch.
Carlson prevents the takedown attempt.
Carlson tries for a takedown. No joy.

Carlson goes for a takedown attempt but Torro pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Torro scores with a takedown into Carlson's guard.
Carlson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Torro!

Carlson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Carlson takes Torro's back.
Torro is in bad spot here.
Carlson avoiding Torro 's attempts to control his hands.
Carlson lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Carlson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Torro's body.
Torro trying to control the action but Carlson just sinks the hooks in.
Carlson is riding his opponent, not letting Torro buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlson fails with the takedown

and Torro counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carlson!
Torro fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Torro tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Carlson tries to hold on but Torro pushes him away.

Torro looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Torro avoids the attempt from Carlson to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Wade Carlson.

Torro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Torro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Carlson is looking for a triangle but Torro pushes his legs off easily.
Torro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carlson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Torro drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carlson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Torro has Carlson in his guard.
Torro is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
