Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Shields! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Harry Hill! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hill shoots in but Shields avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hill misses with a takedown attempt - Shields sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hill tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shields sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hill somewhat. Jake Shields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harry Hill. Hill fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hill fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hill tests Shields's chin there with a solid looking shot. Shields closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Hill misses with a series of wild punches.
Shields defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hill. Hill changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shields tries to avoid it but Hill manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shields to the ground. Shields escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hill looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Shields tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hill swivels and escapes. Hill loads up on a big right hand but Shields slips the punch. Hill gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Shields counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Shields drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hill dives on top into guard. Shields bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hill's guard. Shields drops back looking for a leg! Hill is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hill manages to kick Shields off! Shields jumps back into Hill's guard. Shields advances to half guard. Shields in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Hill tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Shields!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jake Shields!
