Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian McDermott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Tommy Duke has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Duke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christian McDermott!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duke throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McDermott dodges the punch combination from Duke.
McDermott uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Duke.
McDermott wants to clinch.

McDermott shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Duke's guard.
McDermott advances to half guard.

Duke looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
McDermott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duke keeps working.
McDermott content to control rather than advance.

Duke is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McDermott pulls his head out easily.

Duke keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McDermott stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Duke scores with a one two! McDermott had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
McDermott tries a head kick but it misses.
Duke slaps away a takedown attempt from McDermott, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Duke finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Duke rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McDermott moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

McDermott tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McDermott doesn't manage to clinch there - Duke circles away.
Duke throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McDermott.
McDermott with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

McDermott forces Duke back against the cage and clinches.
Duke tries to break the clinch but McDermott is controlling the position.
A frustrated look appears on Duke's face as he tries to break the clinch.

McDermott manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Duke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McDermott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Duke drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McDermott manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Duke has McDermott in his guard.

McDermott trying to control the position from guard on top but Duke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Duke has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McDermott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christian McDermott dominated that round.

McDermott tries to clinch but Duke moves out of range.
McDermott tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Duke paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McDermott tried to score with a low kick but Duke checks it.
McDermott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Duke defends it nicely.
Duke lands with an overhand left.
McDermott shoots in looking for a takedown. Duke tries to sprawl out of it but McDermott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Duke connects with a nice looking jab.
Duke stalks McDermott and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into McDermott's face. McDermott staggers backwards, shaken.
Duke does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Duke digs a good hook to McDermott's body.
Duke lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McDermott circles away quickly and effectively.

McDermott wants to clinch up but Duke keeps it at a distance.
Decent striking displayed by Duke there.

Duke shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Duke lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
McDermott tries to clinch there but Duke circles away.
Duke tries a head kick but it misses.

McDermott is breathing heavily.
Duke lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Duke.
McDermott takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

McDermott shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

McDermott takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McDermott passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDermott looking to secure an arm triangle but Duke defends it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McDermott can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Duke is looking to escape.
Duke is wriggling around trying to escape.
McDermott tries to control but Duke wriggling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


McDermott is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McDermott shoots in but Duke avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Christian McDermott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd cheers as Duke lands an impressive looking overhand right. McDermott doesn't seem phased though.
