PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Juan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Morozov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Juan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Tropa de Elite. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcos Juan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Morozov!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morozov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Juan as he jumps to the side.
Morozov fails with the takedown.
Morozov dives in and grabs Juan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Juan pushes down on Morozov's head and hops out.
Marcos Juan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boris Morozov.

Juan moves into range and clinches up with Morozov.
Juan goes for a takedown attempt but Morozov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Juan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Juan showed some decent athleticism there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Juan gets caught flat footed, as Morozov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Morozov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Morozov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Morozov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Juan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Morozov has managed to get both his arms back between Juan's legs - danger averted.
Juan controls Morozov momentarily but Morozov frees himself.

Morozov is looking to stand up but Juan won't let him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Morozov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Morozov counters with a shoot takedown. Juan fights it but they end up in guard.

Morozov thows a huge punch but Juan dodges it nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Morozov misses with a head kick.
Juan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Morozov gets the takedown into side control.

Morozov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Morozov sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Juan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Boris Morozov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Morozov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Morozov is looking to take a break and control but Juan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Boris Morozov has got the better of the ground game so far.
An elbow from Morozov crashes against the mat.
Juan tries to buck Morozov off but Morozov is having none of it.
Juan throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Juan tries to bench press Morozov off him but Morozov keeps the position.

Morozov is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Juan looks calm but he's in trouble here. Morozov gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Juan is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Morozov lets go of the hold and Juan can pop his arm back in it's socket.
