PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Caschera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caschera comes to the cage accompanied by Crimson King by Demons & Wizards limited edition. Carter has chosen Boogie Wonderland as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Caschera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Samuel Carter!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Caschera to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Carter has his foot on Caschera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Caschera works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Caschera got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Caschera has managed to get both his arms back between Carter's legs - danger averted.

Caschera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Caschera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Caschera lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Caschera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Caschera's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Carter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Caschera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Caschera is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Caschera drops back looking for a leg! Carter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carter manages to kick Caschera off! Caschera jumps back into Carter's guard.

Caschera is really struggling to control Carter but he's trying to hold on to the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
No luck for Caschera with that takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Caschera is defended easily by Carter.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carter looks for the body kick but Caschera saw that one coming.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carter throws a nice looking combination but Caschera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Caschera shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Caschera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carter doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Caschera.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carter throws a right hand that Caschera ducks under and follows up with a left that Caschera also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Horrible takedown by Caschera or perhaps it was just good defense by Carter which made him look bad.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Caschera shoots in looking for a takedown. Carter tries to sprawl out of it but Caschera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carter throws a series of punches but Caschera avoids them all with ease.

Carter misses with a low kick.
Carter stuffs the takedown.
Caschera blocks a head kick by Carter.
Samuel Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Caschera shoots in and drives through. Carter sprawls well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Caschera shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Caschera showed some decent athleticism there.

Carter actively working from the bottom here.

Caschera is looking for a kimura here.
Caschera is trying to control the action in half guard but Carter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Carter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Caschera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carter but Carter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Caschera shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carter pinned against the cage. Carter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Carter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Max Caschera is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Caschera will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Samuel Carter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Caschera has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
