Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Rhodes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kosuki Masahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rhodes comes to the cage accompanied by Yah Trick Yah. Kosuki Masahara has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Rhodes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kosuki Masahara! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rhodes tries to clinch but Masahara is having none of it. Rhodes wants to clinch up but Masahara keeps it at a distance. Rhodes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Masahara, pushing him back against the cage. Masahara jumps guard but Rhodes stands there with Masahara around his waist. Masahara gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Masahara trying to control the position but instead, Rhodes has worked for underhooks and has pushed Masahara into the cage. Masahara drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rhodes gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Rhodes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Masahara shoots in but no luck this time. Daniel Rhodes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kosuki Masahara. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rhodes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Masahara. Masahara gets caught flat footed, as Rhodes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Rhodes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhodes seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Masahara for as long as he can get away with. Rhodes stands up and waves to Masahara to follow him. Rhodes looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Rhodes showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rhodes wants to control from the top but Masahara keeps moving. Rhodes is looking to advance position but Masahara has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! A nice elbow there by Masahara. Masahara jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rhodes is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rhodes and Masahara has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rhodes is trying to improve his position. Rhodes is trying to control Masahara's posture but Masahara avoids it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rhodes tries to bench press Masahara off him but Masahara keeps the position. Masahara working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Masahara looks gassed! Masahara throwing strikes but Rhodes manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Rhodes is looking to take a break and control but Masahara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rhodes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Masahara manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Rhodes is looking to control Masahara's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rhodes avoid being mounted? Masahara is looking for a kimura here.
Masahara is thwarting Rhodes's attempts to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Rhodes dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Rhodes is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Masahara's half guard. Rhodes looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Rhodes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Masahara is staying active underneath Rhodes, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Daniel Rhodes. Masahara takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Masahara gets caught flat footed, as Rhodes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Rhodes wants to control from the top but Masahara keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rhodes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rhodes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Masahara trying to control the position.
Rhodes cracks Masahara with a solid left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Masahara keeping full guard, as Rhodes tries to pass. Masahara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rhodes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rhodes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Masahara looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rhodes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Masahara keeping moving, preventing Rhodes from controlling successfully. Rhodes wants to pass the guard but Masahara is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Rhodes controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Rhodes has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Masahara to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Rhodes is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Masahara pulls down on the head and he's put Rhodes to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kosuki Masahara!
