PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Heke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evander Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heke kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is She Hates Me. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heke lands with a nice body punch.

Roy forces Heke back against the cage and clinches.
Roy tries to pull guard but Heke holds him up against the cage and eventually Roy drops back down to his feet.

Jake Heke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Evander Roy.

Roy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Heke walks away with a smile on his face. Roy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Roy tries to clinch but Heke is having none of it.
No joy there for Heke, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Heke lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Roy circles away quickly and effectively.
Roy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Heke's waist but Heke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Roy off to one side.
Heke lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Roy avoids a punch combination nicely.
Roy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Heke swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Heke tries to bum rush Roy with a series of wild strikes but Roy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Heke slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Roy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Heke pulls Roy in close to prevent any damage.

Roy drops back looking for a leg! Heke is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Heke manages to kick Roy off! Roy jumps back into Heke's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Roy.
Heke throws a shot from downtown. Roy moves away and avoids it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Heke. Roy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Roy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Roy shoots in and bounces Heke off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Heke will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Heke, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
