Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Jupiter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karl Katze! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Katze rushes Jupiter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Katze throws a knee to the head but misses.
A short uppercut from Katze. Katze stalling the fight.
Katze looking to throw knees to the head but Jupiter is blocking nicely.
Jupiter fails to pull guard.
Katze has picked Jupiter up - he's going for a ride! Katze dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Jupiter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Katze is working away from the top position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Katze throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Katze missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Jupiter moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jupiter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Katze trying to control the position from guard on top but Jupiter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jupiter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Katze drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Katze jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jupiter looks to clinch and Katze counters with a straight right hand. A leg kick checked by Katze. Katze lunges at Jupiter with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jupiter's hand. Jupiter with a poor takedown and Katze counters by moving into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Katze manages to break the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Katze. No joy for Jupiter on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Jupiter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jupiter tries to clinch but Katze moves away enabling Katze to counter with a crisp jab. Katze throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jupiter on the side of the head. Katze clinches. Katze lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Katze will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jupiter up against the cage. Katze gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jupiter.

Katze has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jupiter clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Jupiter is breathing heavily. Katze has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Katze is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jupiter knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jupiter for a finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Katze.
Katze is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jupiter knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jupiter for a finish. Katze is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jupiter defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Katze has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Katze trying to control momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jupiter trying to control the hands but Katze breaks the grip. Katze controlling the position well here. Jupiter rolled but Katze kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Katze gets his hands free as Jupiter looks to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Katze wants to control but Jupiter is keeping busy. Katze is not going to allow Jupiter to sit and survive in this position. Jupiter turns into Katze and is now in his guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jupiter shoots in for a takedown but Katze shows good takedown defense. Jupiter tries to clinch but Katze moves out of range. Katze clinches up with Jupiter and pushes him back against the cage. Jupiter fails to pull guard.

Katze has managed to clinch.
Katze has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jupiter regains guard immediately. Katze trying to control but Jupiter is working from the bottom. Jupiter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Katze gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Jupiter trying to keep a closed guard but Katze is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Katze missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Katze drops back looking for a leg! Jupiter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jupiter manages to kick Katze off! Katze jumps back into Jupiter's guard. Jupiter is trying to control the position but Katze postures up. Katze is pushing down on Jupiter's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jupiter is fighting to maintain full guard but Katze has managed to sneak the leg through. Jupiter gets back to full guard.

Katze darts in and clinches Jupiter up against the cage. Katze using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jupiter has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Katze is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jupiter can't fight it off and eventually Katze manages to take the fight to the floor. Jupiter looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Katze trying to control but Jupiter is working from the bottom. Jupiter trying to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Katze accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Katze preventing the sweep. Katze avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Katze has picked Jupiter up - he's going for a ride! Katze dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Jupiter pushes Katze off looking to stand but Katze dives back in and keeps control.
Katze seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jupiter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jupiter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Katze preventing the sweep. Jupiter is trying to keep Katze in close.
Jupiter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Katze is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Katze thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jupiter keeping full guard, as Katze tries to pass.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jupiter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Katze shoots in looking for a takedown. Jupiter tries to sprawl out of it but Katze keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jupiter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Katze looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Jupiter! Katze wants to control the pace but Jupiter is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Katze throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Jupiter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Katze looking to control but Jupiter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jupiter wants to hold on but Katze pushes him away. Katze looking to control and managing it successfully. Katze looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Jupiter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Jupiter is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Katze has control of Jupiter's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jupiter regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Karl Katze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jim Jupiter's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Katze working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Katze turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Katze manages to end up in side control. Katze trying to control the position but Jupiter is working away. Katze tries for a kimura but Jupiter is defending well. You can see the frustration on Jupiter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Jupiter manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Jupiter wants to take a breather but Katze is having none of it. Katze makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Katze. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jupiter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jupiter is trying to maintain the position but Katze is very close to passing his half guard. Jupiter is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Katze pulls his head out easily. Jupiter is looking for a sweep. Katze is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Katze is trying to control the action in half guard but Jupiter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Katze looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Jupiter trying to control here.

Katze circles away from the clinch attempt and Katze counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Katze won't allow Jupiter to get back to his feet. Katze stands up over Jupiter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Jupiter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Katze is one step ahead there. Katze looking to pass the guard. Katze is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Katze wants to control from the top but Jupiter keeps moving.

Jim Jupiter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Katze escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Katze closes the distance and clinches. Katze lands an elbow that stopped Jupiter in his tracks for a moment. Katze lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jupiter backwards. Katze is stalling here.

And that's the end of the fight! Karl Katze comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Katze has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
