The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kivi moves forwards but Connely connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Connely postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kivi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Connely, into his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Connely wants to sweep here but Kivi controlling him for the moment.

Connely isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kivi stacks Connely on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kivi!
Connely is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kivi off and has taken his back!
Kivi turns into Connely and is now in his guard.
Kivi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kivi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Connely has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kivi has managed to get both his arms back between Connely's legs - danger averted.
Kivi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Connely has his foot on Kivi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kivi works his way back into a safe position though.
Connely looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kivi is one step ahead there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Connely is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kivi defends well.

Kivi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Connely escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kivi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Connely drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kivi avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Connely.
You can see the frustration on Kivi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Connely goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kivi has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Connely but great work by Kivi.
Connely tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Connely is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kivi is controlling him well.

Kivi has control of an arm but Connely manages to advance to Kivi's back!
Connely has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Kivi.
Connely has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kivi tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Connely unloads with some shots from mount but Kivi bucks and avoids them well.

Eino Kivi's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Eino Kivi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
