The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joonas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fox tries to clinch up but Joonas circles away and keeps his distance.
Joonas tries to close the distance and clinch but Fox swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Fox counters with a nice kick to the body.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Joonas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Joonas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Fox has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Fox!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Joonas is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fox stands and throws Joonas's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fox is breathing heavily.
Joonas is looking for a sweep.
Fox is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Joonas has escaped the position, nice work there.
Joonas wants to get back to his feet but Fox drags him back down.
Joonas can't do much from the bottom here.
Joonas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fox wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fox shoots in but Joonas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Joonas.

Fox misses with a takedown attempt - Joonas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fox swings around for an armbar but Joonas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Fox's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joonas gets to his feet - Fox follows without any prompting.
Joonas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Joonas happy to just control the position for now.
Joonas stands up and we're back to a striking position.

so Joonas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Fox is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Joonas is aware though and is defending well.
Fox throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Joonas escapes and throws Fox's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Let's hope that Joonas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Joonas sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Fox wants to stand and escape but instead Joonas has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Fox is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Joonas is aware though and is defending well.

Joonas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Joonas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Joonas doesn't manage to clinch there - Fox circles away.
Joonas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fox, pushing him back against the cage.
The referee calls for Joonas to work.
Joonas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fox smiles and moves away.
Joonas works over Fox's head and body with a nice combination.

Fox misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Joonas tries a low kick but Fox avoids it.
Joonas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Joonas wants to pass the guard but Fox is defending well.
Fox moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Api Fox.
Well Joonas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
