Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rani Yahya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yahya shoots in for a takedown but Nelson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nelson scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Yahya rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nelson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nelson is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Yahya jumps guard but Nelson stands there with Yahya around his waist. Yahya gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Nelson as the two fighters clinch.
Nelson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Nelson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Yahya just stands there and leans against the cage.

Yahya's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Yahya closes the distance but Nelson moves to the side
and Nelson counters with a thumping low kick.

Nelson closes the distance and pushes Yahya back into the cage.
Nelson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Yahya lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Nelson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nelson lands with a thumping leg kick.

Nelson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nelson goes for a takedown attempt but Yahya pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rani Yahya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Nelson.
Nelson lands with a kick to the temple. Yahya shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Nelson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Nelson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Yahya, pushing him back against the cage.

Yahya fails to pull guard.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Nelson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck for Yahya with that takedown attempt.
Yahya is breathing heavily.
Nelson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Yahya sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nelson somewhat.

Nelson clinches up with Yahya and pushes him back against the cage.
Nelson lands a nice knee to the body.

Nelson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nelson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Yahya tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nelson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nelson closes the distance and pushes Yahya back into the cage.

Nelson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nelson throws a head kick that Yahya semi-blocks.
Nelson throws a right hand that Yahya ducks under and follows up with a left that Yahya also avoids with ease.

Nelson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Yahya's half guard.
Nelson is thwarting Yahya's attempts to control the position.
Yahya moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
