PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marques Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anstey comes into the arena with Gonna Fly Now blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corwin Anstey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marques Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anstey paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Anstey rushes Anderson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Anstey throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Anderson blocks it with crossed arms.

Anderson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Anstey is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Anderson to the mat. Anderson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Anstey thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Anderson is looking to stand up but Anstey isn't so interested in that idea.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Anstey gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Anstey has picked Anderson up - he's going for a ride! Anstey dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Anstey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Anderson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Anstey lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anstey is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Anstey is nestled in close to Anderson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Anstey postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Corwin Anstey dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Anstey turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Anstey manages to end up in side control.
Anderson is trying to control Anstey's posture but Anstey avoids it.

Anstey has hold of Anderson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Anderson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Anstey cranks the arm and Anderson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Anderson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Corwin Anstey!
