Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmilson Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nathan Maia! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves swats away the attempt to clinch by Maia. Alves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Alves gets the takedown into side control. Alves decides to stand up, so the ref orders Maia to his feet. Maia moves in looking to clinch but Alves pushes him off. Alves looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Maia throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Alves wants to work for an arm triangle but Maia is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Alves slows the pace down in half guard. Maia wants to control but Alves is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Alves maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Maia could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Alves has cracked it and Maia is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Alves!
