Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julio Ramone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wendell Sailor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ramone might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Shut Up. Wendell Sailor struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wendell Sailor!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramone looks for a takedown but Sailor sprawls well.
Ramone lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Sailor throws a jab when Ramone was well out of range.
Ramone jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ramone.

Ramone drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ramone stops Sailor from standing up.
Ramone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ramone lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Ramone working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sailor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ramone tries to free his leg and advance position but Sailor is retaining full guard.
Sailor tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ramone is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ramone trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ramone keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sailor's head.

Ramone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ramone is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sailor is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sailor has escaped and now he's on top!
Sailor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ramone has a closed guard, preventing Sailor from standing up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sailor avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sailor has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ramone is proving hard to escape from.

Ramone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sailor is aware though and is defending well.
Sailor tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramone is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ramone is on top in guard.
Ramone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ramone is looking to take a break and control but Sailor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sailor regains half guard there - taking advantage of Ramone's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sailor can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ramone is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Ramone thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ramone missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Ramone is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sailor avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ramone.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ramone misses with a straight right.
Ramone with a hook.
Sailor uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ramone.
Ramone lands a right hook to the body.
Ramone dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Ramone darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Ramone seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julio Ramone dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Sailor. Ramone shrugs it off though.

A lazy left from Ramone finds it's target.
Ramone moves into range and connects with a jab.
Ramone fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sailor avoids it really well and circles away.
Sailor leaves Ramone with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sailor misses with a looping left.

Ramone closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sailor did well to prevent Ramone getting side control.

Sailor controls Ramone momentarily but Ramone frees himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ramone looking to sit in guard and control but Sailor gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Julio Ramone is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ramone tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ramone controls Sailor momentarily but Sailor frees himself.
Wendell Sailor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ramone pulls Sailor in close to prevent any damage.
Sailor tries to stand but Ramone is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sailor defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ramone.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julio Ramone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sailor moves out of range of the strikes.
Good exchange - Ramone coming out on top.
Sailor takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Julio Ramone.
Well Ramone has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
