Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mayuri Tatsuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Melbrooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatsuki comes into the arena with Norther - Released blaring out of the sound system. Melbrooks comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Motorhead - Smiling like a killer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mayuri Tatsuki! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Melbrooks! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melbrooks misses with a head kick.
Tatsuki throws a lazy head kick and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Melbrooks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Melbrooks tries a head kick but it misses.
Tatsuki connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Melbrooks momentarily.

Melbrooks throws a half hearted mid kick. Melbrooks blocks a head kick by Tatsuki.

Tatsuki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Melbrooks. Tatsuki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Melbrooks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tatsuki wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Tatsuki throws a strike aimed at the side of Melbrooks's head but Melbrooks avoids it well. Tatsuki thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tatsuki working the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. The strikes coming from Tatsuki are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Tatsuki goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Melbrooks rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tatsuki's guard! Nice work there by Melbrooks! Melbrooks looking to pass the guard. Tatsuki looking for subs off his back but Melbrooks has passed one foot through into half guard.
Tatsuki is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Tatsuki is working hard here to advance position. Melbrooks is figuring out what he wants to do next. Tatsuki wants to get back to full guard. Tatsuki looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Still in half guard, Melbrooks seems content to control. Melbrooks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tatsuki does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tatsuki connects with a good right hand that stumbles Melbrooks. Melbrooks circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Melbrooks misses the jab. John Melbrooks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Tatsuki circles away from the clinch attempt.
Melbrooks thows a leg kick but Tatsuki checks it and Tatsuki counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Melbrooks thinking. Melbrooks takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Tatsuki lands a head kick. Melbrooks smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Tatsuki rushes Melbrooks and presses him up against the cage. Tatsuki has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Melbrooks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. A short right from Tatsuki. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Tatsuki lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Melbrooks is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Tatsuki is defending well for now. Tatsuki lands a hook to the side of the head. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Tatsuki. Tatsuki has clasped his hands together around Melbrooks's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tatsuki has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Melbrooks is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Tatsuki yanks on the arm and Melbrooks is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Tatsuki.
