Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richie Yang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andriv Silva! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yang fails with a takedown attempt. Silva will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Yang closes the distance and clinches. Yang fails to pull guard.
Silva doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Nice body punch from Silva - that landed with a thud.
Yang fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richie Yang. That's going to take a lot out of him. Yang manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Yang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Silva is looking to stand up but Yang won't let him. Yang is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Silva trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Silva wants to stand but Yang is controlling his posture from full guard. Yang trying to control the position.
Yang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva trying to control but Yang is working from the bottom. Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yang has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Yang's legs - danger averted. Yang keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. Silva thows a big elbow that misses. Silva trying to stand up but can't free himself from Yang's guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Yang working for a triangle but Silva defends it easily.
Silva has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Yang is proving hard to escape from.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yang working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Yang is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well. Yang is breathing heavily. Yang has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Silva should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Yang has tightened it up now! Silva should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
