Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Julian Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel's entrance music is Lay Low - Snoop Dogg. A fine choice. Barnes has chosen Red Right Hand - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brad Barnes was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julian Steel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Barnes! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decent striking displayed by Steel there. Barnes digs a good hook to Steel's body.
Barnes misses with a looping left. Steel tries for a takedown but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Steel takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Barnes misses with a few strikes there.
Steel takes one to the side of the head.
It looks like Julian Steel has been cut. Barnes scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Steel doesn't seem bothered though. Steel throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barnes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Barnes swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Barnes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Steel. Steel misses with a wild body shot. Barnes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Steel to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel thows a big elbow that misses. Barnes is trying to control the position but Steel postures up. Steel slips nicely into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Steel trying to control the action but Barnes is working from the bottom. Steel missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Barnes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Steel is working away from the top position though. Steel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Steel sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Barnes defending well though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Barnes doesn't manage to clinch there - Steel circles away.
Barnes scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Steel shoots in looking for a takedown. Barnes tries to sprawl out of it but Steel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barnes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A shot to the body from Steel misses letting Barnes counter with a right hand. Steel looks for a takedown but Barnes sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julian Steel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barnes throws a shot to the body.
Steel is breathing heavily. Steel takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Steel misses with a hook. Barnes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Steel loads up on a big right hand but Barnes slips the punch. Steel circles away from the clinch attempt.

Steel feints and as Barnes raises his hands in defense, Steel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barnes is trying to control the position but Steel postures up. Steel wants to pass the guard but Barnes is keeping the position. Barnes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Barnes is trying to control the position but Steel postures up. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Barnes wants to stand but Steel is controlling his posture from full guard. Steel closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Barnes stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Barnes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Steel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Steel tries to pass to full mount but Barnes defends it. Barnes is looking to control Steel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barnes avoid being mounted? Barnes blocking the ground and pound attempt from Steel. Barnes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Steel is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel is trying to control. Barnes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Barnes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Steel trying to advance position but Barnes counters by regaining guard. Steel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barnes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Steel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barnes avoids it really well and circles away. Barnes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Steel throws a lazy right hand but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. A slow jab from Barnes misses its intended target. Steel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Brad Barnes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Steel throws the left hand but Barnes avoids the punch easily. Nice uppercut lands for Steel. That snapped Barnes's head back.

Steel with a poor takedown and Barnes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Steel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Steel trying to control but Barnes is working from the bottom. Steel throws and elbow that misses. Barnes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Steel's guard. Nice move by Barnes! Barnes trying to stand up but can't free himself from Steel's guard. Barnes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steel controls Barnes momentarily but Barnes frees himself. Barnes gets to his feet - Steel follows without any prompting. Steel doesn't succeed with the takedown and Barnes counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julian Steel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Steel fails to land the takedown. Barnes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Steel. Barnes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Barnes looks to land a combination but Steel avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnes listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Barnes throws a low kick but Steel moves out of range easily. The fighters circling - Steel throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Brad Barnes seems to be getting the better of the standup. Steel blocks a jab. Nice body kick there by Barnes. Barnes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Barnes keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Steel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Barnes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Barnes wants to clinch up but Steel keeps it at a distance. Barnes lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Brad Barnes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Julian Steel's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and Barnes counters with a nice leg kick. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barnes avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Steel throws a jab but it's blocked by Barnes. Julian Steel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Steel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Barnes on the side of the head.
And that's the end of the fight! Brad Barnes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Barnes winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
