Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carl Sagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jenson Rawlins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sagan comes to the cage accompanied by Conquest of Paradise. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Sagan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jenson Rawlins! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rawlins swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rawlins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sagan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rawlins.
Rawlins throws a hook to the side of Sagan's head but Sagan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Good standup being displayed there by Rawlins as he connects with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice shot by Sagan. Sagan looks to score with a jab to the body but Rawlins is just out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big left from Rawlins misses. Sagan will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Jenson Rawlins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sagan dodges the punch combination from Rawlins.
Rawlins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nice takedown defense from Sagan. No joy for Rawlins on that attempt. Nice shot lands for Sagan. Sagan slips under a jab from Rawlins. Rawlins tries to clinch up. Sagan misses with a series of wild punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big left from Sagan misses. Sagan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Rawlins tries to clinch there but Sagan circles away.
Sagan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rawlins misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Sagan counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Sagan throws a series of punches but Rawlins moves out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Sagan. Rawlins does a little dance to reset his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rawlins misses with a body punch
and Sagan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carl Sagan dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rawlins swings and misses with a shot to the body and Sagan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Rawlins is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Sagan rather than just go for the knockout. Rawlins scores with a jab to the body. Rawlins fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Sagan throws a hook to the side of Rawlins's head but Rawlins sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Sagan counters with a lovely straight right hand! Rawlins misses with a jab to the body
and Sagan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Sagan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rawlins.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rawlins doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sagan counters with a right hand to the body. Carl Sagan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jenson Rawlins. A shot to the body from Sagan misses and Rawlins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sagan's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rawlins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sagan is keeping the position for now. Rawlins is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rawlins trying to control but Sagan is working from the bottom. Sagan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Rawlins passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Still in half guard, Rawlins seems content to control. Rawlins wants to pass to mount but Sagan is defending the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Carl Sagan will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Sagan throws a sloppy body shot
and Rawlins counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Rawlins throws the left hand but Sagan avoids the punch easily. Rawlins doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sagan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rawlins thinking. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rawlins is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sagan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sagan moves away from the strike by Rawlins. Sagan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Sagan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rawlins.
Rawlins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rawlins throws a sloppy body shot
and Rawlins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Rawlins shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sagan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rawlins shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sagan is trying to defend but Rawlins finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Rawlins is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rawlins is trying to work for a kimura but Sagan is defending well.
Sagan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jenson Rawlins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sagan is refusing to be controlled, as Rawlins sits in half guard. Rawlins uses his free foot to push down on Sagan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sagan.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jenson Rawlins. I think Sagan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
