Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kingdom Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lance Rock! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rock scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Rock seems to be looking for submissions.
Rock wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling the position.
Rock is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jackson has managed to free his arm - good work. Jackson tries to get to full guard but Rock has control of the leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rock stops Jackson from getting back to his feet.
Jackson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jackson. Jackson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rock! Jackson trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rock is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rock turns into him and now he's in Jackson's guard.
Jackson keeping moving, preventing Rock from controlling successfully. Jackson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The fighters are battling for position here. Rock manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Jackson wants to pass the guard but Rock is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jackson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rock is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jackson tries for a kimura but Rock is defending well. Rock is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control. Jackson is trying to get an arm triangle but Rock is defending well. Rock is trying to control Jackson's posture but Jackson avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Jackson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Jackson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rock knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jackson in side control, throwing shots but Rock defends. Jackson swings around for an armbar but Rock sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jackson's guard. Rock not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rock thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jackson keeping moving, preventing Rock from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jackson can't keep his opponent in guard - Rock advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Jackson gets back to full guard.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rock drops back looking for a leg! Jackson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jackson manages to kick Rock off! Rock jumps back into Jackson's guard. Rock looks gassed! Rock won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet. Jackson managing to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Lance Rock will probably get the nod. That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Jackson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Jackson wants to finish this one by submission but Rock is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jackson. Jackson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Jackson thowing shots but they're missing. Jackson is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rock has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rock! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rock stands up and waves to Jackson to follow him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Rock counters with a stiff right hand. Rock throws a nice looking combination but Jackson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jackson with a poor takedown and Rock moves into the clinch. Jackson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rock has him pressed against the cage. Rock tightens his grip and picks Jackson up, before dumping him to the ground. Jackson manages to land in guard. Rock throws a big right hand that misses. Rock trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom. Jackson wants to sweep here but Rock controlling him for the moment. Jackson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rock is controlling him. Rock drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jackson dives on top into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson advances position into side control! Rock is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jackson connects with a decent elbow. Jackson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rock knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jackson wants to control for a moment but Rock uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Jackson is keen to just control but Rock is a slippery customer. Jackson is pressing down on Rock's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rock is holding on for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jackson is working for a kimura but Rock is defending it quite comfortably.
Rock regains full guard. Nicely done. Jackson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jackson working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jackson has an Americana. Rock didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Jackson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Jackson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
