Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Utah Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Utah Jones could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jason Castle's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Utah Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Castle! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones fails with a takedown attempt. Jones blocks a jab. Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Castle. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Utah Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Castle lands with a good body shot. Castle throws the left hand but Jones avoids the punch easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castle is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Castle is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones. Castle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. A slow jab from Castle misses its intended target. Castle throws a nice looking combination but Jones bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Good standup being displayed there by Castle as he connects with a hook. Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Castle circles away. Jones takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Jones is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones postures up in Castle's guard and throws a big left but Castle blocks it. Castle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Castle managing to control the position. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Castle keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones prevents Castle from getting back to his feet. Castle is wriggling around but Jones manages to pass to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Castle can do anything to dispel that myth. Castle is trying to stand up here but Jones is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Castle is not content to let Jones control the position. Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Castle defends it well.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Castle. A slow jab from Castle misses its intended target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones moves in looking to clinch but Castle pushes him off. Jab, jab by Castle - just one landing. Jones slips a jab and a cross from Castle.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Castle. Castle drops Jones with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jones looks back up at him and smiles so Castle waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Jones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Castle moves in close and cracks Jones with a massive right hand! Jones, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Castle!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jason Castle!
