PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kari Peippo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Panu Saikkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peippo comes to the cage accompanied by Public Enemy - Terminator X to the Edge of Panic . Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saikkonen tries to sprawl but Peippo drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Peippo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Peippo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Saikkonen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Peippo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Saikkonen has managed to free his arm - good work.
Peippo wants to free his trapped foot but Saikkonen is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Saikkonen is trying to stand up here but Peippo is controlling him well.

Peippo seems to be working for a kimura but Saikkonen defends the submission attempt.
Peippo missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Saikkonen won't allow Peippo to pass to mount.
Peippo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saikkonen keeps working.
Peippo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Saikkonen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Peippo wants to pass the guard but Saikkonen is defending well.
Peippo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saikkonen squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Peippo wants to control the pace but Saikkonen is squirming around nicely.

Peippo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Peippo has hold of Saikkonen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Saikkonen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saikkonen wants to try and get back to his feet.
Peippo lands a heavy elbow.

Peippo looking to secure an arm triangle but Saikkonen defends it well.

Peippo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Saikkonen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Saikkonen shrugs it off.
Peippo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Peippo lands with some strikes.
Peippo raining down shots from the mount!
Peippo forces the positional change into back control.
I would not like to be Saikkonen right now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Saikkonen is trying to stand back up.
Peippo tries to get the hooks in deep but Saikkonen pushed the leg off.
Saikkonen is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Peippo.

Saikkonen is taking damage to the body and head.
Peippo just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Peippo looking to break Saikkonen's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Saikkonen remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Peippo will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Peippo has managed to slip his arm under Saikkonen's chin. This could be all over... yep, Saikkonen is tapping out! Submission win for Peippo.
