Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Peligrini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Goldberg! The judges for this bout are , and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peligrini looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Peligrini shoots in and drives through. Goldberg sprawls well. Peligrini is trying hard to land a takedown here. Goldberg sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Peligrini. That's going to take a lot out of him. Peligrini moves into the clinch successfully.
Goldberg is trying to break the clinch but Peligrini is controlling him. Goldberg misses with the head strike.
Peligrini tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Peligrini escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Goldberg shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Peligrini's guard. Peligrini is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Goldberg decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Peligrini with a lazy takedown attempt and Goldberg counters with a single leg into guard. Peligrini didn't expect that. Peligrini is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peligrini keeping moving, preventing Goldberg from controlling successfully. Peligrini is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Goldberg is controlling him. Peligrini might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Goldbergis looking to pass into half guard but Peligrini pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Peligrini is in guard. Peligrini throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Goldberg works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Goldberg wriggles free and stands up. Peligrini fails with the takedown and Goldberg counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Goldberg. Peligrini is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peligrini pulls guard effortlessly. Peligrini is working an open guard so Goldberg takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Goldberg gets a clinch. Goldberg is looking to break free of the clinch but Peligrini has double underhooks. Goldberg is trying to break the clinch but Peligrini has him pressed against the cage. Peligrini breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Goldberg darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Peligrini trying to control here.
Peligrini won't allow Goldberg to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peligrini manages to get to full guard.
Goldberg stops Peligrini from standing up. Goldberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peligrini swivels though and keeps the full guard. Goldberg would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Peligrini keeping full guard, as Goldberg tries to pass. Peligrini has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Goldberg doesn't defend quickly enough and Peligrini has managed to lock this one up! Can Goldberg escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Peligrini on a fantastic submission victory.
