Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicky Cook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christian Shott! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cook blocks a head kick by Shott.
Cook shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Cook lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Cook lands a big elbow. Cook lands a big shot there that rocks Shott but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Cook controlling from the full mount. Shott tries to reverse the position but Cook maintains control. Cook lands a big shot there that rocks Shott but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cook landing strikes from the mount and Shott is in trouble! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shott bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Shott pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cook is keeping the position for now. Cook seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Shott trying to control but Cook is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Shott wanted to stand there but Cook had control of the position. Cook seems keen to control Shott's posture. Shott throwing strikes but missing. Cook on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cook tries to get out of the position. Cook managing to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook looking for a sweep. Not yet Cook, not yet. Cook keeping moving, preventing Shott from controlling successfully. Shott looking to sit in guard and control but Cook gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Cook trying to control the position from guard on top but Shott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cook is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Nicky Cook. Cook misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nicky Cook dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Shott plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Nicky Cook has been cut. Shott gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cook postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cook sitting in guard, not really doing much. Shott avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Shott not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cook thows a big elbow that misses. Cook stays in close to Shott's body and controls the position. Shott wants to stand up but Cook is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cook trying to control the position from guard on top but Shott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cook tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Shott wants to clinch up but Cook keeps it at a distance. Shott pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cook throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shott was covering up waiting for the punch and Cook finishes the takedown easily into guard. Cook looking to sit in guard and control but Shott gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cook is pulling down on Shott's head to control his posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shott wants to control from the top but Cook keeps moving. Shott might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cook kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Cook has his hands on Shott's head, controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shott trying to control the position from guard on top but Cook is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cook swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Shott looking to sit in guard and control but Cook gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cook postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shott moves into the clinch successfully.
Cook has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Shott avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Shott is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cook is keeping busy. Shott wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cook prevents the takedown attempt.
Cook tries for a takedown but Shott manages to get underhooks.
Shott's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cook drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Shott trying to keep a closed guard but Cook is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nicky Cook dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Nicky Cook's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Cook looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Shott! Shott is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cook trying to control but he's not successful this time. Shott is looking to improve his position but Cook isn't that keen on the idea. Cook working the ground and pound effectively.

Cook breaks from Shott's wrist control and lands an elbow. Shott wants to hold on but Cook pushes him away. Cook with the ground and pound from mount. Shott is looking to improve his position but Cook isn't that keen on the idea. Nicky Cook is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cook tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Cook prevents Shott from getting the reversal.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Cook blocks Shott's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Cook controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Shott is trying to stand. Shott is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Cook looking to control and managing it successfully. Cook has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Christian Shott has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cook seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shott for as long as he can get away with.
And that's the end of the fight! Nicky Cook showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cook, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
