Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shelton Harrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrell's entrance music is Rock On-David Essex. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Shelton Harrell! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Wayne! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harrell throws a leg kick which misses Wayne's front leg but catches the back leg as Wayne tries to avoid it. Wayne throws a hook but Harrell blocks it. Harrell takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Harrell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wayne throws a jab but it's blocked by Harrell. Good exchange - Wayne coming out on top. Harrell moves away from the strike by Wayne. Harrell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wayne.
Wayne ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Harrell moves away. Donk. Wayne catches Harrell right on the button with a cross. Harrell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wayne to score an easy takedown into full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wayne wants to control from the top but Harrell keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wayne won't allow Harrell to sweep him here. Wayne sitting in guard here, content to control. Harrell wants to sweep here but Wayne controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Harrell keeping moving, preventing Wayne from controlling successfully. Harrell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wayne blocks a low kick nicely. Wayne needs to keep his hands up - Harrell had a free shot at his head there. Wayne changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harrell tries to avoid it but Wayne manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harrell to the ground. Harrell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Wayne steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Harrell.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Wayne pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Harrell tests Wayne's chin there with a solid looking shot. Wayne fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Harrell swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Harrell lets loose with a powerful body kick. Wayne will feel that in the morning. Wayne looks to score with a jab to the body but Harrell is just out of range. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nice jab there from Harrell. Harrell throws a head kick but Wayne moves out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by Harrell. That's going to slow Wayne down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Wayne counters with a stiff right hand. Wayne throws a lazy right hand but Harrell sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Wayne closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Harrell did well to prevent Wayne getting side control. Harrell is trying to maintain the position but Wayne is very close to passing his half guard. Harrell regains full guard. Nicely done. Harrell keeping moving, preventing Wayne from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Wayne controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Harrell is trying to control the position but Wayne postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Wayne won't allow Harrell to sweep him here. Wayne trying to control the position from guard on top but Harrell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Harrell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wayne stays in close to Harrell's body and controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Wayne defending well as Harrell loads up on a big left hand. Wayne checks a leg kick nicely. Harrell misses with a low kick. Wayne displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Harrell throws out the jab. Wayne checks a leg kick. Harrell takes one on the button. Harrell walks into a jab. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Horrible takedown by Wayne or perhaps it was just good defense by Harrell which made him look bad. A clash of legs there as Wayne blocks the low kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Wayne showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Harrell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Harrell stuns Wayne with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Shelton Harrell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wayne shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Harrell as he jumps to the side. Good leg kick by Harrell there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Harrell moves away from the strike by Wayne. Wayne bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Harrell displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wayne throws out the jab. Harrell tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Wayne is able to avoid easily. Harrell throws an overhand right that lands on Wayne's shoulder, as Wayne tries to avoid the shot. Wayne shoots in but Harrell avoids the takedown attempt easily. Wayne throws a jab when Harrell was well out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wayne shoots for a double leg takedown but Harrell sprawls well. He's pushed Wayne's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Shelton Harrell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Wayne. Harrell misses with a double jab
and Wayne counters with a nice double leg into guard. Wayne slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Harrell keeping moving, preventing Wayne from controlling successfully. Harrell throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Wayne counter with a right hand. Harrell blocks a jab. Good work by Wayne as he checks the leg kick. Wayne lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wayne might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Harrell looks to land a combination. Wayne sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like John Wayne has been cut. Harrell scores with a three punch combo!
Wayne is trying hard to land a takedown here. Harrell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A left and a right from Wayne both land. Nice combination. Wayne misses with a body shot
and Harrell counters with a nice low kick that buckles Wayne's knee momentarily. Harrell with a body punch. A glancing blow.
