Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greasy Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Josh Koscheck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Greasy Penn! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koscheck misses with a few strikes there.
Penn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Koscheck paws at him with a jab and circles away. Penn throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Penn gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Koscheck to score an easy takedown into full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Koscheck accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Penn controls Koscheck momentarily but Koscheck frees himself. Koscheck tries to free his leg and advance position but Penn is retaining full guard. Koscheck throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Penn works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Koscheck knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's one minute gone in the round. Koscheck shoots in but Penn avoids the takedown attempt easily. Penn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koscheck was well out of range. Poor timing from Penn. Penn connects with a single shot there. Penn is looking to land body kicks. Koscheck avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Koscheck lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Penn backwards. Penn tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Koscheck ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Koscheck no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Koscheck is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Koscheck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Koscheck on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Koscheck tries to get out of the position. Penn postures up.
Penn wants to control from the top but Koscheck keeps moving. Koscheck is looking for a triangle but Penn pushes his legs off easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Penn fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Koscheck is out of range. Penn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Koscheck feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Penn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Penn wants to get back to his feet but Koscheck is in a dominant position and won't allow it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Penn is on top in guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Koscheck will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Koscheck throws a head kick that misses. Penn throws a combination. Koscheck tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Koscheck shoots in but Penn avoids the takedown attempt easily. Koscheck decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Penn regains full guard. Nicely done. Koscheck trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Koscheck drops back, looking for a kneebar! Penn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Penn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Penn! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn trying to control the action but Koscheck is working from the bottom. Koscheck is trying to improve his position. Koscheck on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Koscheck is pushing Penn's head away, looking to escape. Penn manages to hold on to the position though. Penn fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Penn tries to clinch but fails miserably and Koscheck counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Penn's guard now. Koscheck is looking to work some ground and pound but Penn has wrist control.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Greasy Penn. I think Penn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
