PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Snoop Gizzel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steel Resolve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Snoop Gizzel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steel Resolve!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gizzel checks a leg kick.
Gizzel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Resolve has taken the fight to the clinch.

Gizzel turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gizzel manages to end up in side control.
Resolve is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Resolve struggling a bit here.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Resolve defending against the ground and pound.
Gizzel controlling from side mount.
Gizzel seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Resolve for as long as he can get away with.

Resolve takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Snoop Gizzel just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Resolve thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gizzel if he has to take too many more of those.
Resolve moves in looking to clinch but Gizzel pushes him off.
Steel Resolve seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gizzel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Resolve sprawls well initially but Gizzel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gizzel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gizzel trying to mount his opponent but Resolve defends it.
Resolve moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gizzel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Resolve keeping moving, preventing Gizzel from controlling successfully.

Gizzel throws a strike but Resolve rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Resolve has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gizzel is proving hard to escape from.
Gizzel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Resolve on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Resolve tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gizzel tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Resolve is fighting to break Gizzel's control of his arms but Gizzel is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gizzel is breathing heavily.
Gizzel wants to hit a switch here but Resolve passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gizzel there!
Resolve can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gizzel is looking to escape.
Gizzel is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Resolve wants to slow Gizzel down by chopping away at his legs.
Gizzel tries for a takedown but Resolve sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Resolve throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Resolve throws a solid leg kick but Gizzel takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Resolve.
Resolve scores with a leg kick.
Resolve will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Resolve wants to clinch up but Gizzel keeps it at a distance.
Gizzel tries for a takedown but Resolve sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Resolve wants to land a leg kick but Gizzel is out of range.
Gizzel tries to clinch there but Resolve circles away.

Gizzel takes the fight into the clinch.
Resolve throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gizzel blocks it with crossed arms.

Resolve wants to break free but Gizzel has control.
Resolve with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Gizzel changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Resolve fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Snoop Gizzel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gizzel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Resolve is fending him off so far but Gizzel persists. Nope, Resolve circles away and we're back to standing.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Resolve.

Gizzel shoots in for a takedown but Resolve shows good takedown defense.
Gizzel misses with a few strikes there.

Gizzel checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A slapping leg kick lands for Resolve.
Resolve wants to slow Gizzel down by chopping away at his legs.
A solid leg kick lands there for Resolve.
Gizzel circles away from the clinch attempt

and Gizzel counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gizzel.
Gizzel can't break the clinch.
Resolve using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Gizzel has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Gizzel can't get the takedown.
Resolve tries to stall but Gizzel uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Resolve looking to throw knees to the head but Gizzel is blocking nicely.

Resolve breaks the clinch.
Resolve throws a leg kick
and Gizzel counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Resolve! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Gizzel!
