PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tye Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Juarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tye Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jason Juarez!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Juarez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Carter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carter tries to get out of the position.
Juarez wants to take a breather but Carter is having none of it.
Juarez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Carter kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Juarez stops Carter from getting back to his feet.
Juarez stalling away here and it's allowed Carter to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carter wants to stand and escape but Juarez is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Carter misses with the combination.
Juarez throws a right and a left that Carter avoids nicely.

Carter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Juarez parries the strikes from Carter easily there. Carter is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Juarez to escape.
Carter creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Juarez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Carter swings around for an armbar but Juarez sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Carter's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Juarez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Juarez wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
Carter wants to stand and escape but Juarez is having none of it.
Carter is breathing heavily.

Carter is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Juarez manages to pull guard.

Carter has gone for a leg lock! Juarez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Carter's guard.
Juarez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Carter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Carter keeping moving, preventing Juarez from controlling successfully.
Juarez pushes down on Carter's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Carter wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Juarez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Carter has managed to free his arm - good work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Juarez lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Juarez is pressing down on Carter's thigh, looking to free his foot. Carter is holding on for now.

Juarez stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Juarez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Carter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Juarez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Carter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Juarez is refusing to be controlled, as Carter sits in half guard.

Juarez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carter pulls his head out easily.
Juarez wants to control but Carter passes into side.

Carter stands up and we're back to a striking position.
No joy there for Carter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Juarez misses with a takedown attempt

and Carter counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Carter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Juarez is proving hard to escape from.
Carter keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Juarez's head.
Juarez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Carter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Carter looking to sit in guard and control but Juarez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Carter is looking to stand up but Juarez isn't so interested in that idea.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Carter tries for a takedown but Juarez circles away easily

and Juarez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carter!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tye Carter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Carter throws a push kick but Juarez slaps the foot to one side.
Carter falls off balance throwing a combination
and Juarez counters with an inside leg kick.
Juarez throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Carter misses with the combination.
Carter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A jab lands there for Juarez.
Juarez tries to clinch but Carter is having none of it.
Juarez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Juarez fails with the takedown.
Carter throws a right and a left that Juarez avoids nicely.
Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Juarez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Juarez lands in his opponent's guard.

Carter pushes Juarez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Juarez tries for a takedown but Carter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Carter throws a series of punches but Juarez avoids them all with ease.
Juarez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tye Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Juarez.
Carter tries to bum rush Juarez with a series of wild strikes but Juarez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A head kick misses from Carter.

Juarez closes the distance and pushes Carter back into the cage.
Carter is trying to drag Juarez to the mat but Juarez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Carter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Juarez fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Juarez.
Carter pushes Juarez away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Juarez gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Juarez stands up and beckons Carter to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Carter.
Juarez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carter tries to avoid it but Juarez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carter to the ground. Carter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A jab from Carter finds it's way through Juarez's defenses.
Juarez blocks a head kick by Carter.
Juarez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Carter misses with a leg kick.
Juarez fails to land the takedown.
Juarez shoots and misses
and Carter counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Juarez is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Juarez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carter won't be happy with that.
Juarez wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ground and pound from Juarez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Juarez stands up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Juarez.

Carter throws Juarez to one side and escapes!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Juarez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Juarez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
