The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiera keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jacobs pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Tiera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jacobs swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jacobs avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

No joy there for Jacobs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jacobs cracks Tiera with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That has opened up Frank Tiera's cut even more.
Jacobs connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Tiera jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Russell Jacobs will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Tiera tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jacobs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tiera somewhat.

and Jacobs counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Tiera thinking.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jacobs here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Jacobs drops Tiera with a left and a right! Oh, Tiera is hurt - Jacobs dives into side control looking to finish!
Tiera is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jacobs passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Tiera!

The cut above Frank Tiera's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Frank Tiera's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
