PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Norman Jach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Krueger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jach has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Norman Jach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryu Krueger!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krueger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jach is breathing heavily.

Krueger decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Krueger closes the distance and pushes Jach back into the cage.
Krueger tries to break free but Jach pushes him back against the cage.
Krueger fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Krueger manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Krueger wants to break free but Jach has control.
Krueger fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Krueger tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Krueger can't get the takedown.
Norman Jach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryu Krueger.
Jach comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Krueger tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jach smiles and moves away.

and Krueger counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Krueger drops back looking for a leg! Jach is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jach manages to kick Krueger off! Krueger jumps back into Jach's guard.
Jach is looking to sweep but instead, Krueger has passed into half guard.
Well, if Krueger is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Krueger connects with a nice short shot to Jach's temple.
Jach tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Krueger decides to stand up.
Jach darts in trying to clinch

so Krueger counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jach striking off his back but it's not causing Krueger any problems.

Krueger seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jach wants to improve his position but Krueger is controlling well.

Krueger moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Jach.
The referee asks Krueger politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Krueger prefers to stall for the moment though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jach is looking to reverse the position.
Jach seems a little lost for a moment, as Krueger dominates the positioning.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jach tries to clinch but Krueger moves away

and Krueger counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Krueger.
Jach will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Jach is looking to regain half guard here but Krueger keeps moving and retains side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Jach wants to clinch

and Krueger counters with a single leg into guard. Jach didn't expect that.

Krueger decides to stand and escape the position.
Jach tries a head kick but it misses.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Krueger stuns Jach with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Krueger has Jach up against the cage in a clinch.
Krueger throws a punch but it's blocked by Jach.

Jach gets underhooks to prevent Krueger's takedown attempt.
Jach stalling in the clinch but Krueger improves position.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Jach obliges.

Krueger pulls guard successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jach accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jach wants to stand but Krueger has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Jach thows a big elbow that misses.
Krueger avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Krueger tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Krueger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Krueger manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jach swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Ryu Krueger has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jach is bucking up trying to escape but Krueger cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Krueger is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jach to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jach shrugs it off.
Jach tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and Krueger has taken his back.

Krueger is riding his opponent, not letting Jach buck him off.

Jach is really stuck here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jach turns into Krueger and is now in his guard.
Krueger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Krueger is on top in guard.
Jach throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krueger is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Jach striking off his back but it's not causing Krueger any problems.

Krueger not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jach lands a head kick. Krueger smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Krueger postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jach to stand up.
Jach tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jach tries to clinch but Krueger moves out of range.

Krueger gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Krueger has Jach pressed against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryu Krueger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

and Krueger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jach's guard.
Jach is striking off his back. Krueger thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Jach is looking to get back to full guard here but Krueger has managed to pass to side control instead.
Krueger takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Krueger scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Jach is looking for a way out.
Krueger has the hooks in. Jach is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Krueger has his arm under Jach's chin here. Game over son! Krueger squeezes tightly and Jach is forced to tap out!
