Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bard is looking to clinch but McDonald is avoiding it.
McDonald dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
McDonald lands with a kick to the ribs.
McDonald connects with a solid leg kick.
McDonald scores with a nice head shot.
McDonald misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bard has closed the distance and engaged McDonald in a clinch.
McDonald manages to break the clinch.

McDonald throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bard's head.
McDonald scores with a leg kick.
Bard dodges the punch combination from McDonald.
Bard lands with a nice combination. McDonald backs away looking to recover.
Bard looks gassed!
McDonald lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McDonald misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McDonald connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
McDonald lands a lovely overhand right.
McDonald lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
McDonald fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bard.
Good exchange - McDonald coming out on top.
McDonald scores with a jab to the jaw.
It looks like Pope Bard has been cut.
McDonald dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bard. That did some damage!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bard chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McDonald can pounce on him.
Bard tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
McDonald lands a hook that stumbles Bard back into the ropes. McDonald follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Bard to the canvas! McDonald pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Bard has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Nate McDonald!
