Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Damian Al Ghul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Bert Ernie!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ernie fails with the takedown.
Al Ghul has his takedown stuffed
and Ernie counters by clinching up.
Al Ghul tries for a takedown but Ernie manages to get underhooks.
Al Ghul drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ernie gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damian Al Ghul. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Al Ghul drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ernie drags the fight down to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ernie can do anything to dispel that myth.
Al Ghul wants to pass the guard but Ernie is keeping the position.
Ernie throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ernie has his foot on Al Ghul's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Al Ghul works his way back into a safe position though.

Ernie is looking for a triangle but Al Ghul pushes his legs off easily.
Ernie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Al Ghul gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round.

Al Ghul avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Al Ghul stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ernie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Al Ghul tries for a takedown but Ernie circles away easily
and Ernie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Al Ghul is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ernie defends well.
Al Ghul pushes Ernie off and scrambles back to his feet.
Damian Al Ghul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Al Ghul with a lazy takedown attempt
and Ernie counters with a shoot takedown. Al Ghul fights it but they end up in guard.
Ernie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Al Ghul is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ernie avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ernie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Al Ghul works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ernie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ernie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Al Ghul working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Ernie has passed into half guard!
Ernie lands strikes from half guard.
Ernie maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Al Ghul could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Ernie has cracked it and Al Ghul is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Ernie!
