Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abodohl Makadabi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makadabi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Makadabi is trying to stand back up but Johnson is controlling him

Makadabi is staying active underneath Johnson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Johnson prevents Makadabi from standing back up.
Johnson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Makadabi looks like he's trying to stand up.

Johnson is working for a submission of some sort.
Johnson stops Makadabi from getting back to his feet.
Johnson wants to take a breather but Makadabi is having none of it.

Makadabi is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action.

Johnson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Makadabi is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

We're going to have a standup here because Matthew Johnson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Makadabi can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Johnson lands a nice short elbow.
