PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dick Tator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunner Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tator comes to the ring accompanied by Snoop Dogg - Pump Pump. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dick Tator!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gunner Rage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tator walks into a jab.
Tator swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gunner Rage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rage swings for the body but Tator moves out of range.
Tator throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tator throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Tator avoids the body shot from Rage.
Rage chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tator can pounce on him.

Tator closes the distance and pushes Rage back into the ropes.
Tator misses with a body punch.
Rage is trying to break the clinch but Tator has him pressed against the ropes.
A right hand to the body from Tator.
Rage tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Tator looking to slow down the pace here.
Rage has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tator is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rage tries for a takedown. No joy.
Dick Tator has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunner Rage.

Rage wants the takedown. Tator is fighting it off but Rage persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tator's guard against the ropes.
Tator wants to sweep here but Rage controlling him for the moment.
Rage is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Tator throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Tator working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rage doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rage manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tator trying to keep a closed guard but Rage is proving a slippery customer.
Tator utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rage postures up in Tator's guard and throws a big left but Tator blocks it.
Tator might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Tator is looking for a triangle but Rage pushes his legs off easily.
Rage trying to control but Tator is working from the bottom.
Rage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tator. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tator has a closed guard, preventing Rage from standing up.

Rage avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rage throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rage would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Tator is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tator is on top in guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Tator controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Tator prevents Rage from getting back to his feet.
Tator throwing strikes from guard but Rage blocks nicely.
Tator trying to control the position from guard on top but Rage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tator won't allow Rage to get back to his feet.
Tator is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Tator wants to control from the top but Rage keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Tator has a takedown stuffed.
Rage fails to land with a series of punches.
Tator uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rage.
Tator missing with a left hand there. Rage was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Rage works Tator's body with a nice hook.
Tator throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rage counters with a right hand to the body.
Tator is breathing heavily.
Rage cracks a nice hook into Tator's ribs.
Rage closes the distance and lands a one-two.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rage drops Tator with a straight right hand, right on the button! Rage follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gunner Rage!
