Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Trepanier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skip Macgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trepanier's entrance music is Voodo Child. A fine choice. Matt Trepanier looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Trepanier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Skip Macgee! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Macgee fails with the takedown. Trepanier looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Trepanier tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Skip Macgee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Macgee throws a nice looking combination but Trepanier bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Trepanier on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Macgee. Macgee obviously looking to wear him down.
Macgee scores with a sloppy right hand. Trepanier should have avoided that one. Macgee scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Trepanier doesn't seem bothered though. A left and a right from Macgee both land. Nice combination. Macgee throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Trepanier leaves Macgee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Trepanier displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Macgee. Matt Trepanier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Skip Macgee. The fight moves into the clinch position. Macgee gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Trepanier regains guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Macgee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Macgee decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Macgee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trepanier on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Macgee. Macgee obviously looking to wear him down.
Macgee drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Macgee passes Trepanier's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Trepanier on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Trepanier tries to get out of the position. Macgee drops an elbow to the side of Trepanier's head. Macgee is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Trepanier pushes Macgee off looking to stand but Macgee dives back in and keeps control.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Macgee throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Trepanier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Macgee on the ground. Macgee tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Macgee is pressing down on Trepanier's thigh, looking to free his foot. Trepanier is holding on for now. Macgee wants to control but Trepanier is keeping him busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Macgee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Trepanier pinned against the cage. Trepanier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Trepanier looks for the body kick but Macgee saw that one coming. Macgee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Trepanier uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Trepanier looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Macgee shoots for a takedown but Trepanier saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Macgee dodges the punch combination from Trepanier.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Macgee lands on the inside with an uppercut. Macgee tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Trepanier just stands there and leans against the cage. Macgee goes for a takedown in the clinch but Trepanier prevents it.

Nice takedown defense from Macgee. No joy for Trepanier on that attempt. Macgee throws a sloppy head kick and Trepanier moves out of range easily. Macgee closes the distance and pushes Trepanier back into the cage. Trepanier working some nice short punches in the clinch. Macgee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Macgee throws a right and a left that Trepanier avoids nicely. Macgee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. He's got his arms around Trepanier's waist but Trepanier gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Macgee off to one side. Macgee scores with a punch to the head. Macgee connects with a solid leg kick. Macgee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Macgee seems to be working for a kimura but Trepanier defends the submission attempt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Macgee wants to free his trapped foot but Trepanier is holding on for dear life with his legs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Skip Macgee dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The fighters circle momentarily. Macgee darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Macgee throws a series of strikes that have Trepanier backpedaling.
Macgee lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Macgee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Trepanier walks forward, straight into a front kick from Macgee. Horrible takedown by Macgee or perhaps it was just good defense by Trepanier which made him look bad. Macgee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Trepanier circles away. Nice cross by Macgee. Macgee moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Trepanier walks into a straight right hand from Macgee. No luck with that takedown attempt from Macgee. Matt Trepanier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Skip Macgee. Trepanier circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Trepanier walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Matt Trepanier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Macgee swinging wildly here.

Macgee takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The fight stays on the outside here - Macgee looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Macgee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Trepanier counters with a two punch combo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. No luck for Trepanier with that takedown attempt. Macgee lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Macgee. Macgee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Trepanier moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Trepanier tries to land a front kick but Macgee steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Macgee scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Macgee decides to stand back up. Trepanier misses with an attempted mid kick.
Macgee doesn't succeed with the takedown and Trepanier counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Macgee throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Trepanier goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Macgee displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Trepanier drops his hands momentarily and Macgee takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trepanier lands a nice hook to Macgee's body. Macgee takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Macgee lands a jab-cross combination. Macgee staying out of range there. Trepanier blocks a head kick by Macgee.
Macgee clinches. Macgee is working Trepanier over against the cage. Trepanier is pressed up against the cage. Macgee has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Trepanier down to the mat. Trepanier avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Macgee shoots in for a takedown but Trepanier shows good takedown defense. Macgee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Trepanier.

Trepanier gets a takedown into half guard. Macgee is refusing to be controlled, as Trepanier sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Macgee blocking the ground and pound attempt from Trepanier. Trepanier looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Macgee with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Macgee trying to control here.
Trepanier looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Macgee pushes Trepanier off and gets back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Skip Macgee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Macgee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Trepanier but Trepanier pushes him off and we're back to square one. Trepanier pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Macgee fails to land with a series of punches.
Macgee tries to clinch but Trepanier is having none of it. Macgee lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Trepanier backs up against the cage.
Macgee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Trepanier circles away. Trepanier tries to bum rush Macgee with a series of wild strikes but Macgee uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Macgee swinging wildly here.
Macgee tries to clinch up but Trepanier circles away and keeps his distance. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trepanier swings for the body but Macgee moves out of range.

Trepanier fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Macgee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Trepanier sprawls well. Trepanier wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Macgee gets slowly back to his feet. Matt Trepanier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Skip Macgee.
That's one minute gone in the round. Macgee with a poor takedown and Trepanier counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Trepanier throws a left and a right that both miss
and Macgee counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Macgee swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Trepanier has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Macgee clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Macgee covering up well under a series of strikes from Trepanier. Macgee turns into Trepanier and is now in his guard.
Macgee stops Trepanier from standing up. Macgee slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Macgee landing strikes. Macgee working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Macgee decides to stand up, so the ref orders Trepanier to his feet. Macgee is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Macgee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Macgee throws a wild body kick that Trepanier sees coming a mile off. Macgee gets a clinch. Macgee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Macgee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trepanier swats him away and circles back towards the center. Macgee with a lazy takedown attempt and Trepanier decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Macgee's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Macgee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Trepanier is looking to work some ground and pound but Macgee has wrist control. Trepanier wanted to stand there but Macgee had control of the position. Trepanier loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Trepanier postures up in Macgee's guard and throws a big left but Macgee blocks it. Trepanier looking to pass the guard. Trepanier trying to control but Macgee is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Trepanier is pushing down on Macgee's leg trying to pass to half guard. Macgee is fighting to maintain full guard but Trepanier has managed to sneak the leg through. Trepanier throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Macgee takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Trepanier clinches with his opponent.
Macgee has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Trepanier avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Matt Trepanier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Macgee with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Macgee gets through Trepanier's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Trepanier goes for a takedown in the clinch but Macgee prevents it.
Trepanier is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Macgee pulls him back up using the underhooks. Trepanier is fighting off a takedown attempt but Macgee is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Trepanier to the mat. Trepanier regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Trepanier thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Macgee trying to control the position from guard on top but Trepanier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Skip Macgee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Macgee wants to pass the guard but Trepanier is keeping the position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matt Trepanier. Well Macgee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
