Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Micks!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dirk Harvath!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvath staying out of range there.
A cross from Micks lands.


It looks like Dirk Harvath has been cut.
Harvath lands with a cross.
Micks misses with a looping left.
Harvath stuffs the takedown attempt from Micks. Micks gets slowly back to his feet.

Micks drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Harvath is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Micks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Micks swings around for an armbar but Harvath sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Micks's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harvath sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Micks's guard.
Micks is staying active underneath Harvath, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Harvath is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Micks is looking for a sweep. Harvath is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Micks is trying to maintain the position but Harvath is very close to passing his half guard.
Micks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Harvath's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Harvath's back!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Micks trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Micks is trying to stick to Harvath's back but Harvath is turning into Micks. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Micks's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Harvath.

Harvath is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Harvath trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Micks looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Micks swinging wildly here.
Micks swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Micks misses with a hook.
Harvath lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Harvath throws a push kick but Micks slaps the foot to one side.
Micks changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Micks throws a one two combo.
Micks staying out of range there.
Micks throws a big shot that misses.
Micks defending well as Harvath loads up on a big left hand.
Micks takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Micks misses with a hook.
Dirk Harvath is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Micks misses with an uppercut. Harvath saw that one coming.
A solid body kick from Harvath.
Micks throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Harvath on the side of the head.
Harvath throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Micks throws a lazy right hand but Harvath sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Harvath slips a jab and a cross from Micks.
Harvath dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Micks checks a low kick from Harvath.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Harvath moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Micks throws a leg kick
and Harvath finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Micks is breathing heavily.
Harvath throws a nice inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirk Harvath dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dirk Harvath's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Thud! ouch! good body kick from Harvath - that will leave a mark!
Harvath throws a leg kick which misses Micks's front leg but catches the back leg as Micks tries to avoid it.
Harvath lands a nice looking body kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Micks stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Harvath.
Harvath moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Harvath scores with a push kick.

Harvath lands a big head kick that sends Micks tumbling to the mat! Harvath takes a step backwards and waves Micks back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Micks is rocked!
Crunch! Harvath slams his shin into Micks's torso.
Oh Micks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Harvath drops Micks with a straight right hand, right on the button! Harvath follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dirk Harvath!
Dirk Harvath is the new light heavyweight champion!
