The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sexton.
Sexton misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Emelianenko throws a right and a left that both miss. Sexton misses with a double jab.
Emelianenko closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Sexton has a couple of punches blocked by Emelianenko .
Sexton tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Emelianenko 's elbow. Emelianenko landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Sexton looks gassed! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Emelianenko scores with a shot to the side of Sexton's head. Emelianenko pushes Sexton back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. A knee to the head by Emelianenko .
Sexton is rocked!
It looks like Dave Sexton has been cut. Emelianenko lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sexton backwards. Sexton is still on wobbly legs! Can Emelianenko finish him? Emelianenko will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sexton up against the cage. Sexton seems to have recovered his senses. Emelianenko has Sexton pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Sexton is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Emelianenko - that's hurt Sexton badly! Oh, another knee lands and Sexton is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Sexton doesn't seem to be complaining.
