Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Sachavelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Landon Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Landon Rodriguez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rodriguez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sachavelli stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sachavelli wants it to stay on the feet.
Sachavelli shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rodriguez as he jumps to the side.
Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses.
Sachavelli slips a jab and a cross from Rodriguez.

Rodriguez throws a sloppy head kick and Sachavelli moves out of range easily.
Sachavelli tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rodriguez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sachavelli somewhat.

Sachavelli closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Rodriguez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sachavelli remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sachavelli in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rodriguez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sachavelli doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sachavelli manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
