Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bowl Noodle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kent Clark! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clark tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Clark will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Clark takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Bowl Noodle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Noodle changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Noodle comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Clark looks gassed! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Clark gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Noodle to score an easy takedown into full guard. Noodle landing with the ground and pound. Noodle is stalling in the full guard. Noodle chips away with some ground and pound. Noodle lands a couple of elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Noodle's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's one minute gone in the round. Noodle cracks Clark with a solid left hand. Clark has momentary wrist control but Noodle slips an elbow through the middle. Noodle stays in close to Clark's body and controls the position. Clark looking to control.
Noodle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Noodle passes Clark's left leg - he's now in half guard. Noodle stalling. Noodle is working for a submission of some sort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Noodle controlling the pace. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ground and pound from Noodle. Noodle is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Clark sees it coming and defends easily. Clark has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Noodle is working away from the top position though. Noodle is taking a breather. Clark says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Clark taking some punishment here, with Noodle in his half guard. Noodle sitting and controlling from the half guard. Noodle moves nicely into side control. Clark takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Clark takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Clark is rocked! Noodle lands a strong strike to the head of Clark. That's dazed him! Noodle looking to finish here. Clark is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Noodle lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bowl Noodle!
