Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Walter Moss! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Cormier! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cormier gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cormier looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Moss! Cormier sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Cormier throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Cormier throws some wild stikes that Moss manages to avoid easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cormier throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Moss because Cormier loaded up on that one. Cormier content just to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moss avoids a series of strikes thrown by Cormier.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Cormier's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Despite being in the dominant position, Dan Cormier just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cormier shoots in but no luck this time. Cormier fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Cormier on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Moss. Moss obviously looking to wear him down.
The crowd cheers as Moss lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cormier doesn't seem phased though. Moss tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Walter Moss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Moss tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cormier paws at him with a jab and circles away. Moss throws a head kick that half lands.
Cormier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moss as he avoids it easily. Walter Moss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Cormier. Cormier shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Moss but Moss pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cormier shoots for a takedown but Moss saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Cormier looks gassed! An inside leg kick lands from Moss. Cormier has a takedown stuffed. And thats the end of the round the fighters go back to their corners.

Cormier tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Moss was well out of range. Poor timing from Cormier. Cormier shoots in but Moss avoids the takedown attempt easily. Moss throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cormier on the side of the head. Moss connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Cormier shoots for a takedown but Moss saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Moss is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Cormier is breathing heavily. Moss moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Moss using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Moss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Moss rushes Cormier and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moss breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Cormier tries for a takedown but Moss sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Walter Moss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Cormier. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Moss - that will leave a mark!

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Moss obliges. Moss landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Dan Cormier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cormier changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moss tries to avoid it but Cormier manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moss to the ground. Moss escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Moss lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cormier looks to clinch and Moss counters with a nice leg kick. Moss moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Cormier tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Moss moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moss jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Cormier takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Cormier throws a left and a right that both miss
and Moss counters with a straight right hand. Moss lands a front kick. Cormier takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Moss thows a body kick. Cormier tries to catch it but that hurt him. Cormier on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Moss. Moss obviously looking to wear him down.

Moss bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Cormier fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Moss closes the distance and pushes Cormier back into the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moss unloads a knee to the mid-section. Cormier takes a knee to the side of the body. Moss landing knees to the body.
Moss's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Moss.
Moss throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Cormier clinches but Moss breaks the clinch and Moss connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Cormier's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Cormier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Moss stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Moss wants it to stay on the feet. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cormier is defended easily by Moss. Moss fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cormier dives in and grabs Moss's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moss pushes down on Cormier's head and hops out. Cormier throws a big shot that misses.

A right-left combo lands from Moss. Moss gets a clinch. Cormier drops down looking for an ankle pick but Moss pulls his leg out and moves away.
Cormier takes one to the chin there. A slapping leg kick lands for Moss.
Moss lands a glancing blow to the side of Cormier's head. Cormier fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Moss avoids it really well and circles away. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cormier tries to clinch but fails miserably and Moss counters with a solid body kick. Cormier dives in and grabs Moss's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moss pushes down on Cormier's head and hops out. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Moss, right into the meat.
Moss takes the fight into the clinch. And thats the end of the round the fighters go back to their corners.
Walter Moss dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Cormier tries to clinch but fails miserably and Moss counters with a nice leg kick. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Cormier crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Moss - the referee stops the clock and Cormier gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Moss. Cormier manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Moss lands a two punch combo.
Cormier throws a jab when Moss was well out of range. Cormier tries for a takedown but Moss circles away easily and Moss counters with a stiff right hand. Moss scores with a hook. Moss uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Moss scores with a leg kick.

Moss is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Moss displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cormier. Moss lands a high kick!

That's one minute gone in the round. Cormier doesn't succeed with the takedown and Moss counters with a big head kick but Cormier shrugs it off. Walter Moss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Cormier. Cormier shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Cormier fails with the takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Cormier shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Moss defends it nicely. Moss clinches up against the cage. Cormier takes a knee right on the jaw!
Moss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Moss thumps Cormier with a low kick. Moss tries to clinch but Cormier is having none of it. Dan Cormier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cormier keeps the fight on the outside. Cormier with a lazy takedown attempt and Moss counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Cormier shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Moss defends it nicely. Moss fakes the leg kick and cracks Cormier in the body. Moss buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A big left from Cormier misses. Cormier takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Moss, right into the meat.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Moss lands a front kick. Moss throws a head kick that Cormier semi-blocks.
Moss tries to close the distance and clinch but Cormier swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cormier misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cormier will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Moss lands with a kick to the ribs.
Cormier shoots for a double leg takedown but Moss sprawls well. He's pushed Cormier's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Moss clinches up with Cormier and pushes him back against the cage. Moss breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Cormier doesn't succeed with the takedown and Moss counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cormier shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Moss counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cormier takes a kick to the side of the head. Moss is looking to clinch. Cormier with a poor takedown and Moss counters with a straight right hand. Moss lands with a nice body kick. Moss is looking to clinch but Cormier is avoiding it.
Moss scores with a jab. Moss closes the distance and clinches. Moss landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Moss lands a good knee to the midsection. Cormier won't want to take too many of those. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Moss prevents a takedown attempt there.

Cormier has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Moss. Moss is trying to break free. Dan Cormier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Moss is pressed up against the cage. Cormier has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Moss down to the mat. Moss avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Cormier gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Moss.
And that's the end of the fight! Walter Moss showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Moss, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
