The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stinson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stinson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stinson wants to clinch up but Lopez keeps it at a distance.

Lopez gets a takedown into half guard.
Lopez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Stinson wants to get back to his feet.
Lopez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Stinson tries to get to full guard but Lopez has control of the leg.
It looks like Lopez is going to stand back up.

Lopez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lopez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stinson for as long as he can get away with.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Stinson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lopez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Lopez postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Stinson to stand up.

Lopez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

so Lopez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lopez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stinson on the ground.

Lopez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lopez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lopez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Lopez gets to his feet. Stinson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Stinson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lopez smiles and moves away.
Paulo Lopez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barney Stinson.

and Lopez counters with a shoot takedown. Stinson fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lopez wants to control from the top but Stinson keeps moving.
Lopez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lopez prevents Stinson from getting back to his feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Lopez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lopez won't allow Stinson to sweep him here.
Stinson is trying to control the position but Lopez postures up.
Lopez thows a big elbow that misses.
Lopez is stalling in the full guard.
Stinson controls Lopez momentarily but Lopez frees himself.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lopez is trying to control. Stinson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Lopez is thwarting Stinson's attempts to control the position.
Lopez drops an elbow to the side of Stinson's head.
Stinson wants to control the action here but instead Lopez manages to pass to full mount!
Lopez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
BOOM! Lopez connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lopez punishing his opponent with strikes.
Lopez wants to control the pace but Stinson is squirming around nicely.

Lopez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stinson is trying to get back to his feet.
Lopez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Lopez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stinson, who protects the arm well.

Well Lopez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
