PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boogie Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knino Master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Boogie Mann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Knino Master!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Master misses with a takedown attempt - Mann sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Master is trying to break the clinch but Mann has him pressed against the cage.

Mann changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Master fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Master goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Master is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mann connects with a nasty looking knee right to Master's face.

Mann is pushing Master up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Master has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mann avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Master tries for a takedown but Mann manages to get underhooks.
Boogie Mann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Knino Master.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Master takes a knee right on the jaw!

Master wants to control from the top but Mann keeps moving.

Mann has his feet on Master's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Mann instigates a clinch.
Master can't break the clinch.
Master has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mann is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Come on Mann - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Master looking to slow down the pace here.
Master is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

Master tries to pull guard but Mann won't allow it.

Mann turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Master tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mann wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mann throws an elbow but Master slips to the side and avoids it well.
Master wants to get back to his feet.

Mann looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mann wants to stand but Master has his arm trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boogie Mann dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mann takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Mann is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Master gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Master drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mann pulls his leg out and moves away.

Master tries to pull guard but Mann won't allow it.

Master is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Master has had enough of the clinch but Mann keeps him there for the moment.
Mann has Master pressed against the cage, preventing Master from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Master tries to break free but Mann pushes him back against the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Master's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mann fails to pull guard.
Master has Mann pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mann manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
The referee calls for Mann to work.
Master fails to pull the fight into his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mann is pressed up against the cage. Master has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mann down to the mat. Mann avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Master misses with a takedown attempt - Mann sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Master is looking to clinch.
Mann tries to score a power double leg takedown but Master sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mann somewhat.
Boogie Mann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Master counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Master.

A close second round but Knino Master will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mann is pressed up against the cage. Master has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mann down to the mat. Mann avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mann shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mann moves into the clinch.
Mann stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Master gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mann is looking to escape.
Master is keen to just control but Mann is a slippery customer.
Mann wants to get back to full guard.
Mann wants to get back to his feet.
Master missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Master is nestled in close to Mann, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Still in half guard, Master seems content to control.

Mann trying to get back to full guard but Master takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Mann tries to hold on but Master postures up.
Mann might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mann is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mann knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Master on the ground.
Master sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Mann really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Master looking to secure an arm triangle but Mann defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Master controlling the pace for now.
Master can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mann is looking to escape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mann defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Master.

And that's the end of the fight!
Knino Master comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Master has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
