PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Hudak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Jump Around kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamal Hudak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake McGuire!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire scores with a punch to the head.
McGuire fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hudak checks it well.
McGuire scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hudak doesn't seem bothered though.
McGuire checks a leg kick nicely.
Hudak misses with a body kick.

Hudak feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

McGuire working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Hudak has passed into half guard!

Hudak wants to take a breather but McGuire is having none of it.

McGuire escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hudak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McGuire looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hudak might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hudak.
Jake McGuire is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McGuire rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hudak moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hudak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McGuire looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hudak is looking to take a break and control but McGuire is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hudak tries to move into full mount but can't pass McGuire's legs.

Hudak closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McGuire to the mat! McGuire manages to get full guard.

McGuire looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hudak not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

McGuire isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hudak stacks McGuire on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hudak!
McGuire takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hudak is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. McGuire looks calm but he's in trouble here. Hudak gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. McGuire is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Hudak lets go of the hold and McGuire can pop his arm back in it's socket.
