Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ben Franklin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thomas Raith! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Raith. Raith slows the pace down. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Franklin is looking for a sweep. Raith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Raith prevents Franklin from escaping the position. Raith decides to stand back up. Raith steps back and let's Franklin get back to his feet. Raith tries to clinch up but Franklin circles away and keeps his distance. Franklin with a poor takedown and Raith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Raith is working for a submission of some sort.

Raith decides to stand and escape the position. Raith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Raith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franklin keeps working. Franklin is trying to stand back up but Raith is controlling him
Raith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Raith throwing shots but Franklin is blocking nicely. Raith prevents Franklin from improving his position. Franklin is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Raith is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Raith missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Raith is trying to control. Franklin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Raith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Franklin is just riding it out for now. Raith eventually gives up the hold. Raith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Raith is looking to take a break and control but Franklin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Well, if Raith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Raith stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Franklin to get to his feet. Raith closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Franklin to the mat! Franklin manages to get full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Raith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Franklin is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Raith dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thomas Raith dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Raith doesn't manage to clinch there - Franklin circles away.
Thomas Raith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Raith wants to clinch up but Franklin keeps it at a distance. Raith shoots in and gets a takedown into Franklin's guard. Raith throws a big right hand that misses. Raith decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Franklin, up you get! Raith tries to clinch there but Franklin circles away.
Raith shoots in but no luck this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Franklin misses with a takedown attempt and Raith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Franklin! Raith controlling the pace for now. Raith looking to secure an arm triangle but Franklin defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raith has hold of Franklin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Franklin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Raith wants to finish this one by submission but Franklin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Raith. Raith looking to secure an arm triangle but Franklin defends it well. Raith has hold of Franklin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. That's two minutes gone in the round. Franklin is squirming around, avoiding Raith's attempts to control the action. Raith scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Franklin is trying to stand up. Raith working Franklin over with strikes here. Raith is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Franklin is forced to tap! Great finish!
