Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Lou Spants! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Bear! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spants shoots in for a takedown but Bear shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Bear shoots in and bounces Spants off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Bear loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bear tries to free his leg and advance position but Spants is retaining full guard. Spants working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bear doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bear manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Spants is looking to stand back up but Bear counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Spants. Bear gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Bear looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Bear trying to control but Spants is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spants preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Spants can't keep his opponent in guard - Bear advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Spants has one foot on Bear's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Spants shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bear manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Bear working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Spants. Bear keeping moving, preventing Spants from controlling successfully. Bear has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Spants doesn't defend quickly enough and Bear has managed to lock this one up! Can Spants escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Bear on a fantastic submission victory.
