Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Castellaneta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonny Bush! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castellaneta wants to clinch. Castellaneta shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Bush has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Castellaneta can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Castellaneta drops back looking for a leg! Bush is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bush manages to kick Castellaneta off! Castellaneta jumps back into Bush's guard. Bush wants to sweep but no luck. Castellaneta trying to control the position from guard on top but Bush is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bush is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Castellaneta actively working from the bottom here. Castellaneta looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Castellaneta is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bush thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Castellaneta's head. Castellaneta is looking to improve his position.
Bush trying to control from half guard but Castellaneta is working away. Castellaneta looking for submissions off his back. Bush trying to control the action but Castellaneta is working from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Castellaneta swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bush fails to land with a series of punches.
Bush has his takedown stuffed and Castellaneta counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Castellaneta trying to control but Bush is working from the bottom. Castellaneta drops back looking for a leg! Bush is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bush manages to kick Castellaneta off! Castellaneta jumps back into Bush's guard. Bush is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Castellaneta is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bush is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bush has escaped and now he's on top! Castellaneta keeping moving, preventing Bush from controlling successfully. Castellaneta pushes a forearm under Bush's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Bush is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
